Accompaniment

Whether or not to visit your person after they have died is a deeply personal decision. Your relationship with them, the circumstances of their death, your beliefs and the support you have available can all be important to consider. You may find that complexities and the expectations of others mean you do not feel fully sure either way. There is no right or wrong decision.

In our society many people have never seen a person after death. Thinking about the first experience of this being someone you know can feel full of anxiety, especially during the perhaps turbulent emotional time immediately after bereavement.

If you would like to visit your person at a funeral home, or think you might, you may like an experienced person from outside of your close network of friends and family to accompany you. I am able to provide support for your visit, however the visit unfolds.

I will meet you outside the funeral home and accompany you throughout the visit. I can also offer time before and after the visit to prepare for and reflect on your experience.

Location

I work in the Bristol area.

Visits happen at an often busy time for the bereaved, so support before and after a visit can be arranged flexibly depending on your needs.
